Half Day Classes (10 Week Term)
The classes offer a wide range of subjects in all media with some demonstrations; they are
ideally suited to beginners, portfolio preparation (with a high intake into college) and more
advanced students.
The emphasis is on personal tuition. All materials
must be supplied by the student. Please see suggested list on application form.

Due to popular demand a deposit of £100 is required to secure a place on the course. Deposit is non-refundable.
Two-day Workshops
Held at Coburg House Art Studios, 15 Coburg Street, Edinburgh EH6 6ET
There will be a mixture of subjects throughout the year for all.
Whatever your level of ability I will help you to improve your skills with: pastels, lino printing, figures, portraiture and mixed media and more variety of courses. These will be small and friendly groups allowing for more personal attention.
There is no need to bring materials, the studio is fully equipped with easels and a range of materials including paper and paints or pastels.
Drawing and pastels for beginners and improvers
If you have little or no experience you will learn to look and create. On Saturday we will cover the basics of drawing skills, proportions, angles, tones and composition. On Sunday I will demonstrate the application and mixing of chalk pastels to enhance your drawing. Lino printing inspired by flowers and foliage
We will start the weekend by drawing from the natural form inspired by the shapes of the flowers and foliage. Your sketches will be worked on for the print design. We will cut into the polystyrene a modern type of plate to produce some wonderful prints. Then we will ink up the plates using hand rollers and see the results. All-day Life Classes
Held at Lifecare, 2 Cheyne Street, Stockbridge, Edinburgh EH4 1JB
An all day life class, the day class gives everyone the opportunity to produce a more finished piece either in pencil or colour. All levels are welcome.Please bring along plenty of paper, A2 sketch pad, 2B, 4B and 6B pencil for the warm up quick poses and a rubber is always handy. I am happy to teach any media and have watercolours and pastels to use in the class.
Arrival 15 to 20 mins early is recommended to allow time to set up.

Due to the use of life models my classes are only suitable for students aged 14 years and over.
Materials:
For my 10 week art classes I have a supply of watercolours and pastels for class use but also suggest you bring the following:
- A2 Sketch Pad
- 2B, 4B, 6B pencils
- Staedtler rubber
- 3 coloured pencils
- Pastels, acrylics, watercolours or anything else you wish to learn
10% discount cards available at beginning of term.
For weekend and one day courses at Coburg all materials will be supplied.
